Dane Brugler, senior NFL draft analyst for, answered your questions on the upcoming draft and the Cowboys during a live chat recently. Here are some highlights

If Lamar Jackson is still there in second round; do you think that Dallas should take him and let him compete for backup to Dak?

Brugler He won t be there, but absolutely. They should consider him at 19 if he s still there. That s not Plan A, but you let the draft play out and fall to you. And Jackson is a dynamic athlete that can help transform the offense. I don t know if the coaches in place would be a great fit with the play calling Xavier Woods Jersey, but you don t pass up dynamic players who make your team better.

Why haven t the Cowboys shown more interest in WR Jeremy Maclin?

Brugler The WR room is crowded enough. Maclin is a solid player, but the better move is adding a young player they can develop.

What do pre draft visits tell us about a player?

Brugler It means different things for different teams. A top 30 visit allows teams to bring prospects to the facility where they basically do everything except work them out on the field. They go over the playbook, review tape and most importantly, get to know the person.

And for the Cowboys, recent history tells us there is a high probability that they will draft one of the players they brought in for a visit in the first round. The visits are also a chance to bring in some questionable character types to see if they re worth the risk. Florida WR Antonio Callaway and West Georgia OT Dez Harrison are two examples of this.

I have a feeling that Dallas is looking hard at Da Ron Payne. What are the odds he is available at 19?

Brugler I think you re right. In fact, I know they like Payne. Enough to take him at No. 19? That s what I m unsure about. I think Payne is more of a trade back option. And I m still not buying that this team will draft a 1 tech DT in the first round. Yes, Payne has 3 tech traits, but it doesn t consistently equal backfield production.

Do you think LSU RB Darrel Williams would be a good fit at Zeke s backup ?

Brugler I like the fit. Williams is a versatile player. Reliable receiver and blocker. Good locker room guy. Played behind Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice the last four years so he s used to being Robin, not Batman. I haven t seen the Cowboys connected with Williams, but I like the fit.

Because of Carson Wentz size and mobility, will all NFC East teams be after pass rushers in this year s draft?

Brugler I could be the quarterback of the Eagles and all NFC East teams should still be after pass rushers. Second most important position on the roster behind only quarterback. Rushers who can force the quarterback to move his feet and get the offense off schedule are extremely valuable. Quarterbacks like Wentz have the mobility to create when plays break down, but the really good pass rushers can contain him.
